What can I say? I received this as a gift and took it up after a long while of looking at it. I guess it’s a title that wants to expand people’s horizons; for me it remained underwhelming as it did not cover any subject thoroughly, instead hopping back and forth in almost every chapter.
The subject of the British Empire is so divisive, unfortunately so, that I don’t expect this to have opened many people’s eyes. Those who would most benefit from an approach like the one described here are probably not going to pick the book up, while the ones with an open mind are likely to already know that every little item needs to be thoroughly investigated. That doesn’t mean there’s not something in here for everyone who takes the time to read this.
Overall, I’m not sure I’d recommend this, or at least who the target audience should be. But for those who are interested, there’s probably something to take away.
